Kanjorski Gets "A" Rating, Endorsement from NRA

Congressman Proud of Support from Gun Owners

October 14, 2008

Wilkes-Barre, PA - Congressman Paul E. Kanjorski (PA-11) thanked the National Rifle Association (NRA) for the group's endorsement today. The NRA also gave Congressman an 'A' rating for his work on behalf of law-abiding gun owners.

"Pennsylvania gun owners have been wonderful friends of mine for many, many years," the Congressman said. "I have fought and will continue to fight vigorously to protect their constitutional rights. The NRA has been a wonderful ally in that fight and I am proud of the long and productive relationship I've had with the organization. I also look forward to continuing to work with them."

The NRA praised Kanjorski for his reliable support for the rights of law-abiding gun owners, including recent efforts to ensure the right to self defense in the home in our nation’s Capitol. The Congressman helped to introduce legislation to require the District of Columbia to adhere to the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling affirming the individual's constitutional right to bear arms.

"Paul Kanjorski is a friend of freedom. He is a steadfast supporter of gun rights and of efforts to preserve America's hunting heritage. NRA-PVF is pleased to endorse Paul for reelection and we ask every gun owner and hunter in Pennsylvania's 11th district to vote for him November 4." said Chris Cox, NRA's chief lobbyist and chairman of NRA's Political Victory Fund

Congressman Kanjorski has been a strong supporter of Second Amendment rights. Throughout the many debates Congress has each year on gun control legislation, Congressman Kanjorski’s goal has been to preserve our Second Amendment rights while keeping firearms out of the hands of criminals. As such, he has regularly voted for legislation to preserve this important constitutional protection over the years, and has opposed bills that would strip away the right to bear arms.
