WILKES-BARRE – Lou Barletta on Sunday showed his true colors and came home to his Republican Party. Barletta addressed the Luzerne-Lackawanna counties Republican Dinner.
“After months of trying to hide his ties to George W. Bush under a bushel basket, Lou Barletta attempted to rally local Republicans at their party function. Lou Barletta came home to the Republican Party and showed where he will stand if he goes to Washington,” Ed Mitchell, Kanjorski campaign spokesman, said Monday.
“We always knew Barletta couldn’t abandon the policies of Bush and congressional Republicans. He’s got the same agenda: tax cuts for the wealthy, tax breaks for corporations to send our jobs overseas, and no health insurance for every American.
“Barletta has been telling us for months that he is not aligned with any party, owes his loyalty to no one and would be different in Washington.
“But at the last minute, he’s showed his true colors, realigning with his Republican cohorts to try give us four more years of the bankrupt policies that have steered America off on the wrong track.
“According to news reports, Lou Barletta told his audience that it wasn’t a bad year to be a Republican. That’s easy for him to say. Tell that to someone who has lost their job, seen their retirement savings dwindle before their eyes, or has to worry about him privatizing Social Security.
“Mr. Republican, Lou Barletta, just doesn’t get it,” Mitchell said.
U.S. Rep. Paul E. Kanjorski has announced via his campaign’s Twitter account that he’s seeking a 14th term in Washington. more >>
